Completed in 2011, the Barn, having a central event room, loft area, kitchen area, bedroom, and baths has served as a center for church events and as a gathering place for friends and family. One thing led to another and folks in the community contacted the family in search of a venue convenient for weddings and events. Due to the natural barn setting and old outer buildings, guests have enjoyed its versatile use for their special purpose. The Barn has become an inviting place for guests to celebrate whatever occasion they wish.

about us

Sunny D Farms, a family owned property, was purchased in 2007 to fulfill Mark’s dream to refurbish the working farm once owned by the Hutchinson family. Coming from an agricultural/ forestry background, Mark’s vision was to revitalize the well established pecan orchard, the stand of timber planted by the Kitchen family, and to create a vegetable and fruit garden for our family and friends to enjoy. After many months of love and labor, the farm began to take on a new form removing much of the overgrown trees and bushes that screened the beauty of this once viable farmland. Unfortunately, it became apparent that the old vintage buildings were in disrepair making it difficult to reinforce them for future use. However, the family decided to leave them standing for their historic preservation and ecstatic beauty. So, in 2009, Mark met with a North Carolina timber frame company who helped him design a mortise and tenon (no nails) structure that was to be used for storage and Mark’s “man barn.”

Sunny D Farms also has 3 distinct ceremony locations on the property. View them below:
